are experienced Majorcan hikers and we would like to share with you both the
positive news about our new trails, huts and public areas but also the
negative (closed trails). SINCE MID-SEPTEMBER 2009 THE SECOND EDITION OF THE MAP "TRAMUNTANA NORTH" IS AVAILABLE
►The best Mallorca walking maps (Tramuntana Sud, Central and Tramuntana Nord, 1:25000) are available since april 2005. They are very accurate and made by experienced hikers. You can get them also in the UK: 'The Map Shop' website in Britain - http://www.themapshop.co.uk/balearicislands.htm - and 'Stanfords' website - http://www.stanfords.co.uk/mapdetails/mapdetails?item_code=133971

►New signposted

►2 new websites: www.gr221.info (about the long-distance trail Dry- Stone Route) www.torrent de pareis.info (about the most beautiful hike of Mallorca) ►The long-distance trail GR 221 is closed between Estellencs and Banyalbufar ►Winter 2008-2009 with plenty of wind, rain and snow ►New features in the website of the Department of Environment ►the mountain huts could be booked online. ►With the "visor del senderista", you can look maps with signposted footpaths and the long-distance trails. ►The GR 221 and the GR 222 have their laws approved by the government ►The finca Ternelles (Pollença) could be opened soon. ►June 2008: some trails have been signposted in la Victòria d'Alcúdia ►The old police station "Quarter des Carabiners", is being restored. ►In September 2008 the buildings of Son Real have opened as an interesting museum. ►The overgrown trail through the Comellar de ses Sínies in the Galatzó state has been cleared. It connects Es Capdellà with Estellencs and allows the climb of S'Esclop. ►One project for the Archduke's trails: "Territori Arxiduc" ►Once again (the sixth time), 1000 hikers demonstrated in Es Fangar (Manacor) on the 14th. of December 2008. The hikers want to stop the owners closing all the public trails across the finca. An agreement could be reached in the coming months ►The mountain cabins of the Govern Balear. ►GR 221, Section Esporles- Valldemossa could be open in 2009. The trail goes through the housing estate "Son Cabaspre" to the Mola de Son Ferrandell and the pass "Coll de Sant Jordi". From there it crosses the Comuna to Valldemossa.
